advent Calendar

Working material: 1 Christmas card or 1 Christmas picture, 1 Sheet of white paper.

The word got around, that Christmas is "just around the corner", everywhere preparations are being made mysteriously and eagerly. Freestyle all children, audi for Katrin, Christmas time is the most beautiful, and she eagerly awaits Christmas. An advent calendar helps bridge the gap. Certainly, for a few pennies you can buy pretty nice calendars, but Katrin is an avid hobbyist. So what is closer,that she makes a calendar herself. A particularly beautiful Christmas card or Christmas picture is quickly at hand. However, Katrin puts her ambition in a picture she has painted. With a sharp knife she cuts into the marked windows or doors, so that it can be opened. Then she places a sheet of white paper the size of the picture underneath and draws the incised doors and windows with a sharp pencil. In these demarcated areas she paints pretty Christmas figures like a Christmas tree, candle, Bell jar, gingerbread, but also dolls, Autos, Teddy bears, Ball and whatever comes to mind. Then the sheet is coated with glue on the edges and attached to the back of the picture. After Katrin wrote numbers on the windows, she looks at her calendar with proud joy, because she made "that" herself. Who dares to do it?, To emulate Katrin?

Toy box

Working material: Cardboard or sturdy cardboard, Zellophan, Colored paper, Yarn.

Grandma talked about her youth, that one made of colorful flowers- and postcards I sewed small decorative boxes to store picture lots, Puzzle games and things like that. Andrea said that, that something like that was old-fashioned. And anyway: Sew cardboard, where else can you find it? Eventually such a box was tried, similar to our proposal. You can make pretty patterns out of colored paper by folding them, which are glued to the blanks of the side parts and the lid. Now one blank is sewn together with the cellophane sheet. You attach the four side parts to the base plate, then connects the sides with one another and finally sews the lid on to an upper broad side.

Pen box

Working material: Ansichtskarten, Yarn.

You can use a pencil box. Depending on the size you want, you can make blanks from colored or white cardboard, which you sew together in the manner described above. A few simple shape folding cuts help decorate this little handicraft.

Jewelry box

The same applies to this box, what was said about the toy box. It is a little more difficult to manufacture, but who enjoys it, he may try. You cut the outside of the box- and interior parts, Lid and bottom. It says under every part, how often it has to be cut out. All are covered with equally cut out strong cellophane and overlaid with thread. Then you sew two of the lids- or floor parts together, First the inside and outside with the lower tape to the floor (Fig. 1). Then the inner parts follow (Fig. 2), then the outer parts (Fig. 3), and finally the lid is sewn on to an upper side, as you see in Fig. 4 look.

Juxtaposition game

Working material: Pictures or picture postcards, cardboard, Colored paper.

Peter had such beautiful picture books! but, how boys are, most of them are quite "worn out". However, the "flying leaves" do not end up in the oven, but Peter tinkers with it, or from picture postcards, an interesting activity game.
